New Logo & Brand Identity

Established in 1987, with over fourteen stylists at it's inception, Cenral Hair Salon is one of the longest operating salons in the small town of Pekin, IL. In 2022 the salon relocated to a smaller and more convenient location hence the "2 Chair" addition to the name. The owner and one other stylist work out of the new location.

The Problem

The challenge is getting the word out that the salon is still operating at a new location.

The Target Audience

Central is a family friendly salon.

  • Target males and females ages 25 - 65 years old.

  • Secondary target audience - family and friends of target audience.

The Feel

The salon has a vintage feel with imagery of famous people from the 1950s era...Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Elvis Presley.

  • The owner requested a simple vintage rockabilly feel with a classic style that is nostalgic but attractive to all ages.

  • I created "pin-up" style imagery with a pompadour hair style to convey the 1950s movie star feel.

The Mood

The blue-green color palette represents trust, strength, growth, and harmony.

The Flair

In my research, I found that 1950s typefaces were very feminine and flowing.

  • Fleur Bold - Used in the main title logo is feminine with a mix of old school calligraphy and a contemporary, soft flair.

  • Bahnschrift Light Semi-condensed - Simple, clean sans serif lines, readable and pairs well with the softness of Fleur.
